Welcome to our latest installment of “Aircraft of the Month”!
Earlier on October 6, Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) launched its very new and well… very VIP ACJ220-100 business jet, commonly known as the ACJ TwoTwenty Business Jet!
Airbus could not exactly fit this aircraft into a single category, so they chose to create a new one! An Extra-Large BizJet it is! It is basically a heavy and long-range business jet with clean sheet design based on the ACJ220-100 twinjet model, featuring advanced materials and state-of-the-art technologies. What really sets this aircraft apart from its competitors is its very VIP and very large cabin fit for a king! A flying five star hotel!
Demand for Airbus’s new addition is already on the rise in the age of Covid-19, with six jets ordered on the very first day of the launch at USD 81 million each! The ACJ TwoTwenty Business Jet is projected to enter service in early 2023.
Externally, The ACJ TwoTwenty Business Jet is 35 m long and 11.5 m high, with a wingspan of 35.1 m, and fuselage diameter of 3.3 m. In other words, it does “not” take any additional parking space and is completely capable of taking off and landing at the same airport as any other business jet.
Internally, the aircraft has one massively large cabin (23.8 m long, 3.3 m wide, with standup height of 2.11 m). Its cabin is pressurized at about 1’829 m, comparable to modern generation aircrafts. It offers three times more cabin space than any other aircraft in its category. The extra-large cabin has 73 m2 of floor area, split into six living zones (12 m2 each). The cabin interior is fully customizable based on customer preferences. Comlux, a swiss-based aviation company with proven experience in outfitting and upgrading VIP jet interiors, has been selected to participate in outfitting the jet’s first 15 cabins, in partnership with ACJ’s Head of Creative Design, Sylvain Mariat.
The jet’s massively large cabin, fit for up to 18 passengers, has space for the widest electronically controlled seats in the industry, equipped with USB sockets as well.
The cabin includes the latest connectivity capability, with a Wi-Fi system throughout the entire aircraft. Airbus claims connectivity aboard the ACJ TwoTwenty Business Jet is twice as fast as the connectivity on competing aircrafts. Online video conferencing or streaming services are totally possible, with multiple screens throughout the cabin, and one large 55’/4K large screen. Smart cabin control features, including electro-chromatic windows, are fully accessible through passengers’ mobile devices.
ACJ has taken passenger comfort and well-being to a whole new level! The cabin’s design includes LED lighting to guarantee passenger visual comfort and advanced soundproofing materials to ensure passenger acoustic comfort. The cabin’s design also includes a temperature control system and an integrated cabin humidification system. Another major winning point these days: The cabin air refreshes every three minutes with one-way airflow!
Other winning points: A fully equipped bar, an eight-guest table for gourmet meals made in a five-star cuisine, a true UK king size bed and a fully private bathroom equipped with a rain shower!
The ACJ TwoTwenty is a long-range performer. It can travel up to 5’650 nm or 10’500 km over twelve hours, directly connecting top international destinations. The efficiency of the aircraft stems from low weight construction materials, improved aerodynamics, and Pratt and Whitney PW1000G turbofan engines.
ACJ claims the ACJ TwoTwenty is cleanest and most eco-friendly aircraft in its category, with 50% reduced noise footprint and up to 25% lower fuel burn compared to previous generation aircrafts. ACJ also claims the ACJ TwoTwenty, with outstanding reliability, delivers a third less operating cost and two times better value retention versus competition.
Summing up all the above, it is no wonder why this new jet is in high demand these days!
That’s all for this month, peeps!
